The 8th edition of the annual Smart Photography awards was held at The Lalit, Delhi last evening. The illustrious awards are a medium through which Smart Photography honours and celebrates the accolades achieved by the imaging industry in the year gone by.
A large slew of products are launched year after year and narrowing it down to one best choice is no easy task. The SP technical team intently conducts reviews of the products, subjecting each product to multiple tests, to arrive at unbiased conclusions. As seen every year, the Computer Active Awards preceded the Smart Photography Awards. The event was kicked off with an opening speech by Hoshang Billimoria, CEO, NextGen Publishing Ltd. He spoke about the scenario in the global digital market. Also discussed was the ‘Camera of the Year’ award. Voted by an eminent jury, this award is no small recognition to hold. The front runner this year was Nikon, bagging a total of 5 awards. Canon followed with 3 awards, and Panasonic with 2. The ‘Camera of the Year’ award went to the Nikon D600. is result brought out a great response from the audience. The jury members for this category along with Hoshang Billimoria and SP’s Technical Editor, Rohinton Mehta, were Dr. Caesar Sengupta, reputed wildlife photographer, Noshir Gobhai, reputed industrial photographer, and ardent enthusiast Burjor Nariman. At the closing ceremony, an AV clip supporting the girl child was organised and telecast to the audience by Western Digital. This was followed by dinner and cocktails, where the guests interacted with each other, thereby drawing the curtains on another successful edition of the SP awards.
